Michael Hoffman is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist specializing in management of anxiety, addiction and difficult life transitions. He holds a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology with Emphasis on Depth Psychology from the Pacifica Graduate Institute and graduate degrees in English and Education from the University of California at Santa Barbara and is a former member of the Board of Directors of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. His books include Life After Rehab: How to Stay Sober in the Outside World and Trusting the Process: The Challenge of Men’s Midlife Individuation. After more than 15 years of personal recovery and experience in numerous clincial enivornments, he has turned his attention to private practice which combines traditional talk therapies with more motivational, imaginative and thought-provoking mindfulness techniques. He consults and lectures for recovery centers while practicing and teaching mindfulness meditation in institutional settings. He takes his Rhodesian Ridgeback therapy dog, Mr. Brown ,on adventures and works actively in the recovery community from his professional headquarters in the beach town of Dana Point, CA.

Michael’s affiliations include The NeuroNetwork , the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, the C.G. Jung Club of Orange County, the International Positive Psychology Association, Toastmasters International, the Buddhist Recovery Network , the Vipassana Support Institute, the Training Institute for Addiction Counselors, Book Publicists of Southern California and the Philemon Society.
