Radio Interview
Michael recently spoke at the KUCI – FM radio studio at the University of California at Irvine with “A Student of Life” host Judy Alexander. He explored how psychotherapy can unravel the confusion that underlies anxiety and addiction and how therapy helps bring clarity and new meaning to people as they grow older. He talked about Dr. Carl Gustav Jung’s theory of the collective unconscious and archetypes as wellsprings of vast psychological and emotional strength, which can be tapped through simple active imagination exercises.

Trusting the Process – The Challenge of Men’s Midlife Individuation
Life After Rehab – How to Stay Sober in the Outside World
During my graduate studies in 2005, I suffered a midlife funk. Trusting the Process, my thesis at Pacifica Graduate Institute, emerged as I awakened to the resources of the unconscious mind. After graduation I worked at one addiction recovery center after another, disappointed by the ineffectiveness of the current for-profit rehab business model. Life After Rehab is my attempt to help those addicts whose rehab experience did not work. It comprises more than 30 cognitive behavioral and depth psychological exercises to keep the mind working rationally against irrational addictive thinking and behavior.
